We hired KMR to paint the entire interior of an historic house. We were extremely impressed with their work, and would hire them again in an instant for many reasons: (1) Their prep and painting work was immaculate. (2) This was a complicated job, and the actual painting was only part of it. There were a ton of wall [and] closet...repairs required. Kevin (the owner) did a great job of identifying all the things that needed to be done beyond just painting to really make the house look terrific, and he made a number of good recommendations in keeping with the character of the house that we wouldn't have thought of on our own. The actual workmanship for these repairs was excellent. (3) Kevin is a very good communicator, and we stayed in constant contact throughout the work. (4) They cleaned up well after themselves, even taking the garbage out to the curb the night before pickup The house was cleaner when they finished than when they started. (5) Their prices are very fair. Kevin will tell you up front that they're not the cheapest and not the most expensive. I've learned through experience that with painting you get what you pay for, and with KMR what you get is exceptional quality.

Mr. Ryan and his crew have completed two jobs at my 1920's home. My first experience two years ago involved exterior painting which, as you may imagine from the age of the house, is not an easy task. They meticulously prepared the surface by power washing, scraping, and sanding the shingles and trim. All the rotted wood was replaced and the windows caulked. They used an excellent paint and our home looks fabulous. Mr. Ryan gave excellent advice about removing shutters that weren't "right" for the house. Recently the same crew worked on the inside of the house which had some serious damage to the plaster walls and original woodwork that needed to be refurbished. The results are amazing! Several places in the house needed touch up and Mr. Ryan was very careful to make sure the new paint matched the old. All in all I could not have asked for more. Everything was done expertly and handled professionally. The crew came on time and worked hard all day. Mr. Ryan who worked along with his crew was easy to talk to, returned calls, and did both jobs for a fair price. KMR Painting & Decorating has earned my highest recommendation.

Kevin Ryan, the proprietor, did not submit the lowest estimate for the job. In fact, his was the second highest I received. I gave him the work because he was by far the most careful about reviewing what the work would entail, in terms of surface preparation, ladder placement, and any clearance problems with the neighbors—a major item as my house sits very close to an adjoining property. This turned out to be an excellent decision. He and his crew were meticulous in preparation, performed the actual painting in exceptional detail, repaired wood and masonry expertly and cleaned up thoroughly. I would recommend him without qualification, and in fact have asked him for an estimate on a complicated interior job.

I knew the house and porch required a lot of work but no painters had ever done such a thorough job of removing the multiple layers of old paint thereby creating a smooth surface for the finish coats. I have used KMR several times in the past to paint the house, garage and recently my barn. The inside of the house needed a lot of prep work and that’s where Kevin and his crew really stand out. I called KMR (Kevin Ryan and his staff) for an estimate based on his excellent online reviews. He arrived promptly for the estimate, was completely honest about what he thought I needed without trying to oversell me, and provided a thorough written estimate by the next day. The estimate was very fair compared to others I received. Due to circumstances out of his control (Hurricane Sandy), the job’s start was delayed. During that time, Kevin called to check in and reassure me the work would start as soon as possible…and it did. They arrived between 8-9am each day. They worked until dark, and at the end of each day, cleaned up thoroughly…minimal dust, no tools laying around, etc. I really appreciated that. They were respectful as possible of my children’s presence and my young child’s napping. They were at my house for 2-3 weeks, working Saturdays, and even Sundays (only because I did not mind. Had I voiced an objection, he would not have worked that day.) Kevin is very good about explaining what he is doing as he is doing it, what was done, and what work remained. I am so pleased with all the work done…the quality, the courteousness, and the overall experience. He is coming back this week for more interior work. I have given his name to friends and family, and I will continue to do so.

KMR painted the entire interior of our house including installation of crown molding and replacement of window trim that was improperly built by another contractor. Kevin and his crew were very professional and efficient throughout the entire process of the job. He wasn’t the cheapest estimate we received but definitely the best value of our buck.
